GENEVIÈVE LECHASSEUR
Artiste multidisciplinaire, (arts visuels, danse, chant), Geneviève Lechasseur a touché au théâtre avant de revenir à la danse en 1989 par sa rencontre déterminante avec la chorégraphe Jocelyne Montpetit et sa façon d'aborder le corps par le butō (ou danse des ténèbres initiée par Hijikata et Kazuo Ono après la seconde guerre mondiale).
Interprète et assistante pour Jocelyne Montpetit, elle approfondit sa démarche avec des créations personnelles et des ateliers tels que: séminaire avec Eugenio Barba, atelier d'écriture avec Brigitte Haentjens, ateliers de butō avec Yukio Waguri, de qui elle sera la doublure pour Earth; Yumiko Yushioka, Yoshito Ono, Tomiko Takai, et stage de nô et kabuki avec Shiro Daïmon; flamenco auprès de Julia Cristina, pour qui elle enseigne et est membre de la compagnie en tant qu'interprète. Depuis 1993, elle expose et présente ses créations chorégraphiques sur la scène montréalaise. Depuis 2013, elle est directrice artistique pour le projet d'exposition printanière et collecte de fonds pour l'école primaire internationale Guy-Drummond, oeuvres sélectionnées à l'exposition Et si Montréal était une oeuvre d'art? au Musée des Beaux Arts de Montréal. Elle a collaboré avec l'ensemble Alkémia pour la création de Mystère, Geste polyphonique, en tant que chorégraphe et interprète (danse et chant a capella), oeuvre en nomination pour le prix Opus 2015. |
Multidisciplinary artist, (visual arts, dance, singing), Geneviève Lechasseur started in theatre before returning to dance in 1989 through her decisive meeting with choreographer Jocelyne Montpetit and her way of approaching the body through butō (or dance of darkness initiated by Hijikata and Kazuo Ono after World War II).
Performer and assistant for Jocelyne Montpetit, she deepens her approach with personal creations and workshops such as: seminar with Eugenio Barba, writing workshop with Brigitte Haentjens, butō workshops with Yukio Waguri, for whom she was understudy for Earth; Yumiko Yushioka, Yoshito Ono, Tomiko Takai, and nô and kabuki workshops with Shiro Daïmon; flamenco with Julia Cristina, for whom she teaches as an teaches and is a member of the company. Since 1993, she has been exhibiting and presenting her choreographic creations on the Montreal scene. Since 2013, she has been artistic director for the spring exhibition and fundraising project for the Guy-Drummond International Primary School, works selected for the exhibition Et si Montréal était une œuvre d'art? at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She collaborated with the ensemble Alkémia for the creation of Mystère, Geste polyphonique, as choreographer and performer (dance and a capella singing), a work nominated for the Opus 2015 award. |
